While she has an excellent vocal chord, her perennial inability to read the news is driving us crazy. She's probably dyslexic because she constantly transposes words. Then she would get really nervous and make incoherent noises.
Last night, she said the Dow went up by 100 points when in fact the index dropped by 100 points.

I was just about to find her twitter handle and ask if she is ok! I just heard the news roundup at midnight and I thought she was having technical difficulties or a personal crisis of some kind...it was bad.

ReplyDeleteThank GOD I'm not the only one being driven NUTS by this person's consistent inconsistency! As others have said, she hasn't yet been able to read ONE newscast without flubbing her lines. What bothers me even more is that she's WAY too close to the microphone and we can hear her cheese doodle digesting along with every other oto-rhino-larygological sound her body makes. Also just plain WEIRD is that she begins each newscast by saying she is "...in WAUSHINGTON," then ends every newscast by being, "...in WASHINGTON." Consistently inconsistent!

ReplyDeleteWhy does Shay Stevens always pronounce Washington as "War_shington". Is that something we should be paying attention to ? It's like when people call a washing machine a "warshing machine" or iron an "orn". Just wondering what are the requirements for broadcasters ? For NPR I thought it was to teach properly. I do enjoy most of NPR and turn it off when offensive sounds that bother me come on.

ReplyDeleteShe just said that Mike Pence is flying to Houston on Sunday for the SuperBowl and that George and Barbara Bush are scheduled to conduct the pre-game CORN TOSS. It's a COIN TOSS!!!

DeleteWhat's with all the hate? I actually think she's pretty fabulous at her job -- that voice is amazing. I'm willing to forgive a stumble or two to hear that every day.
